Rob's Soccer League - RSL

After playing with the four main North American sport leagues in the RSU, I was getting the itch to add soccer.  Can't say exactly how and why it happen, it just did.  I guess love for soccer can be like that sometimes.  Whelp, stratomatic does not make a soccer game.  There are other quality soccer games out there.  However, I wanted something similar to the matrix layout of their baseball game... so I went ahead and created my own soccer game to play in the RSU.  Thus, Matrix Soccer was created, and the RSL joined the universe for the 2025 season (2026 season to be played after the 2025-26 European League are finished).

League Setup - An 18-match season with two four team conference

  • Eastern Conference - Indiana Hoosiers / North Carolina Tarheels / Philadelphia Union (Hybrid) / Vermont Maple Leafs
  • Western Conference - Arkansas Razorbacks / Colorado Mile Highs / Diggin's Point Sprouters (My vested team) / South Dakota Coyotes

Player Pool - From the 2024-25 EPL season, I pulled everyone from the United Kingdom and everyone from North/Central/South America.  I also included the Philadelphia Union (Yes, I know that I am cross pollenating the leagues.  It's MY universe, LOL).  For the starting pool of players for my vested team, Diggin's Point, I started with all United States players from the Big 5 Euro Leagues.  From there, I randomly assigned players to squads until rosters were filled.  Players who were not assigned to a squad are marked as Free Agents and can be claimed to replace a player who has run out of usage (Philly and Diggin's Point can only use free agency if they do not have enough active player to fill out a roster.  This is one of the limitations to being a 'vested' team)

Player Limitations - Players are limited to 50% of the minutes they played in real life.  This could become a hindrance for Philly as the MLS season is only 34 matches.  Full injuries are in effect (Please note this goes across all my leagues... I may be easy going with certain aspects of my leagues, but I am downright ruthless when it comes to injuries.  I enjoy having that random element to my league play)

Schedule Setup - One week will consist of each squad playing two matches.  They will play against the same team in a 'home and home' format.

Current Standings - There are two more matches left to play in Week 3 (Col@SD / SD@Col).  Here are the current standings

Eastern Conference GP W D L Pts
Philadelphia Union 6 5 - 1 - 0 16
Vermont Maple Leafs 6 3 - 1 - 2 10
North Carolina Tarheels 6 2 - 2 - 2 8
Indiana Hoosiers 6 2 - 1 - 3 7
Western Conference GP W D L Pts
Diggin's Point Sprouters 6 2 - 1 - 3 7
Colorado Mile Highs 4 1 - 2 - 1 5
Arkansas Razorbacks 6 1 - 1 - 4 4
South Dakota Coyotes 4 1 - 1 - 2 4

Philly has jumped out to a strong start going 5-1-0.  Although, it'll be curious to see if they can stay atop the standing if their players start running out of usage.  Diggin's Point started the season 0-1-3 and have rallied for two wins in Week 3.  My first game writeup will most likely be about the Sprouters first win in franchise history.

Sorry for the information dump, LOL.  I just wanna share this replay with the world and needed to properly set it up.  Talk to you soon!
